On September 2, 2012, the APEC Youth Festival opened in Vladivostok. Participants in the festival will propose their solutions to urgent social and economic problems facing the Asia-Pacific region.
The event is taking place on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on September 2 to 4 in parallel with APEC-2012 Leaders' Week in Vladivostok. Delegates from Russia and other Asia-Pacific economies will take part in the festival. They include undergraduate and postgraduate students, young scientists, entrepreneurs and politicians.
Events will be held in the form of debates and economic quests. The program of the Youth Festival also includes meetings with well-known politicians, business people, experts, scientists and artists. Also on the forum's agenda is a simulation of APEC groups' activities, in which the participants will work as scientists, experts and ministers, to highlight the most urgent problems facing the region and to suggest their own outlook on their solution.
The APEC Youth Forum will issue a declaration as a result of their work, to be presented to the APEC Leader's Meeting participants on September 8-9, 2012.
