The APEC Youth Festival was held on September 2-4, 2012, in Vladivostok under Russia's APEC chairmanship. This event was held in parallel with the APEC-2012 Leaders' Week.
As part of the program participants discussed topics of relevance to cooperation, developed ways of resolving the region's problems, and met politicians, businessmen, experts and academic and cultural figures of the Asia-Pacific economies, with the aim of gaining diplomatic experience and strengthening cooperation between existing and future leadership strands.
The Youth Festival program included a simulation of the activities of APEC Working Groups, during which participants were able to take on the role of scientists, experts and ministers, identified the most pressing problems of the region and proposed ways of resolving them. The Youth Festival resulted in a declaration, which was presented to the APEC leaders on September 8-9, 2012.
